Guide to the Siracusa province

The province of Siracusa lies on the south-eastern corner of Sicily and covers an area of 2,109 sq.km. It borders the province of Catania to the north and north west, the province of Ragusa to the west, the Ionian Sea to the East and the Mediterranean Sea to the south. This province is a popular tourist destination due to its abundance of spectacular architecture and historical and archaeological findings. No less than nine towns within the province have been awarded UNESCO World Heritage Site status.

Backed by the Iblei Mountains the province slopes down to its coastlines which is famous for their long, white, sandy beaches and crystal clear water. The province of Siracusa contains the largest lake in Sicily, Lago di Lentini.
