Tuscany is one of the most famous tourist locations in Europe, thanks to it renowned history, its endless artistic beauties, its wonderful landscape and the quality of the produce grown and made there, especially its wine. It is a mostly hilly region, except for the mountain stretch of the Apuan Alps. It also has a long stretch of coastline looking out onto the Tyrrhenian Sea. There are several good climbing areas to enjoy as you mix with the wealth of cultural attractions.
The climbing is Tuscany is not destination worthy, in the sense that most sites are not places to spend 3-4 days. The best way to explore the climbing areas is by car, because the public transportation is not flexible enough for a climbing vacation. There are a few new bouldering areas open near the Monte Amiata area.
