MONTEGALDELLA, VICENZA PROVINCE Montegaldella is just south of Montegalda, it seems the town were once joined but inorder to create municipal control the land area was divided were the towns are separated by a small stream.  The major structures were the old church and convent Montegaldella that the town was created around.  It has its own post office and school and it is only 300 meters from Montegalda's, it also has a stop and bus service.

ZERMEGHEDO, VICENZA PROVINCE Zermeghedo seems to be a name of Longbardo orgin and the township sits up in the hills above the Chiampo valley.  It seems to have been originally established as a safe haven in case of retreat by King Alboin.  After the fall of the Roman Empire the area was controlled by the Franks and then the Lombard's.   There is record of Ezzelino Romano attacking the area at one point around 1250.

Velo d'Astico | Vicenza Province

VELO D'ASTICO, VICENZA PROVINCE This pleasant village was immortalised in the writings of Italian author Antonio Fogazzaro, who spent summer vacations at the villa Velo. There is a medival castle overlooking the valley. The church of San Giorgio contains several nice works of art and actually sits on the site of a Longobard settlement. The town sites surrounded by mountains M. Novegno and M. Cengio and the Astico river has carved a gorge out as it passes.  The river is a source of the local industrial power and at one time provide the water source to local beer bewery's.  The Brewery is no longer in operation but there is a historical beer hall to stop at as you enter the valley.

ROANA, VICENZA PROVINCE Thanks to its secluded position in the westernmost part of the plateau, this town has retained many of its ethnic roots. The township is divided from the main part of the Altoplano by the gorge of Val d'Astsa. The Museo della Tradizione Cimbra gives you a good example of the Cimbri people who populated in the middle ages, bringing many of their northern European traditions with them. Close to Roana is the ancient village of Rotzo, know for its potatoes.
