SPECIAL NOTES:

There are plenty of short stops along this route and places to refill water bottles.  The two main areas to ensure you have full water is between:  1. San Quirico d'Orcia 2. Pienza

At the 6 km mark you will need to enter the main highway and ride about 600 meters taking the first exit to reach Torrenieri. There is a wide margin but if there is no traffic it is best to ride the main road to the left of the white line.  Otherwise you risk getting a flat tire.

If you are stopping to explore Pienza you will need to secure your bicycle (as you should anytime you stop).  Otherwise push your bike as you walk into the main square, it is only 25 meters.  Do not forget to ride around the back part of the walls for some great views.

The streets in Montepulciano are quite steep and it is best to explore the town by foot.
