ZERMEGHEDO, VICENZA PROVINCE
Zermeghedo seems to be a name of Longbardo orgin and the township sits up in the hills above the Chiampo valley. It seems to have been originally established as a safe haven in case of retreat by King Alboin. After the fall of the Roman Empire the area was controlled by the Franks and then the Lombard's. There is record of Ezzelino Romano attacking the area at one point around 1250.
