TOWN OF LUSIANA IN VICENZA PROVINCE

Lusiana (“Lusaan” in Cimbrian) is located in the Vicenza Province and on the Altopiano Asiago mountain group.  Lusiana sits on the southern slopes of the Plate that gently slopes down, and overlooks the Venetian Plain.

The natural beauty and the long history of the  Lusiana area has lead to the creation of an Ecomuseum. Sites in the area worth seeing are: the Park of Sojo in the village of Covolo (with exhibitions of contemporary art spread along a nature trail in the woods), the educational Valley of the Mills, the Ethnographic Museum, the Prehistoric Village of Mount Corgnon, the Alpine Botanical Garden of Mount Corno and the Trail of Limestone.

The area of Lusiana was affected by the events of the First World War, like most of the Altopiano Asiago.  The whole area was fortified and a transit point for Italian war materials.  Most of the war was fought on the slopes to the north of the community so it was spared direct conflict.
