Abettone is located in the flat lands between the Colli Berici and the Colli Eugenia. The town sits along the Bisatto canal, and this is where it is believed to have gotten its name, 'Al Betone' derives 'Bodo' (fossato) which refers to the presence of a water stream. Therefore, the name translates to along the stream.
