It is hard to believe sometimes, but there are ski and snowboard options in southern Italy.  With the change in weather patterns the southern areas have been getting more snow in the past few years.  The season is short and not very dependable to plan long range but if you find yourself in the area, keep in mind you could get in a few turns if the weather is right.
