Located in the hills of the Lessina mountains Altissimo and San Petro Mussolino are made up of four hillside villages. The area marks the beginning of some of the most beautiful parts of the Chiampo valley. The peaks of the Piccolo Dolomiti hover above the villages. Altissimo was established in the Middle Ages when the area between Mt. Lessini and the Asiago plain was settled by German tribes. Today the upper valley is a popular vacation destination for locals.
There are plenty of great secondary roads to explore, most are isolated, and it would be best to ride with some support. You can traverse the hills to get to Verona or climb over to Schio to take the pass into the Trentino Region.
