Sossano was known in the 16th century as the town with healthy air, and good weather, and thus they placed it on the comuni coat of arms.   Sossano now has a few old villas for the land owners that once controlled the area and a few gravel quarries operating.  Siting at the southeastern tip of the Colli Berici it marks the start of the Padua plain and historical trek to the south toward Rovigo, Ferrara, and Bologna.
