Northern Italy is an exceptional choice as an active vacation for those who love to get around by foot.·There are great walks and hikes throughout the regions that lets you explore·the multi layers of history and culture, the varied geographical profile, and these small ecosystems that offer varied food and wine products, a walker·has multiple choices to keep them engaged during their visit.
Let's face it, there are some people who love to put themselves over the edge, test their outer limits and feel the most pure form of mediation that comes from suffering. I hear your pain, feel your joy and ecstasy; therefore I have designed a trip that will take care of all the above. This is a week of the riding the hardest climbs in northeastern Italy. Go to any of the bicycle information websites that provide information on bike climbs in Europe, notice that some the hardest rated are located in the Northeastern regions of Veneto, Trentino-Alto Adige, and Friuli Venezia. This week of riding is about tackeling several of these top climbs that are rated above the 200 point difficulty level.

The week starts by meeting at the Tolmezzo, UD train station where we will move to our hotel and brief the week's program. The riding is challenging from day one, we will ride the awesome Monte Zoncolan, not the highest elevation you climb one of the toughest. Next we ride over a few lesser know climbs in the Prealps to get into position to tackle our next super climb, Monte Grappa via its hardest rated route, we will have a grappa tasting once we get back down to the town. A ride over the Asiago Plateau will get us setup for the next climb on our list, Punta Veleno, a climb considered for the Giro d'Italia several times but deemed to hard for good racing, after Punta Veleno we ride to Bolzano and along the way you have two optional climbs to enjoy, treat yourself by riding up the classic Monte Bondone, or tick off the second hardest climb in Italy by riding up the ultra hard Scanuppia near Trento. The Edelweiss near Bolzano is our next goal and it finishes off our quest for this week. After all the riding we will have a final farewell dinner with some great wine to celebrate our achievements before we say goodbye.
This trip is not a joke and should be in good cycling shape and familiar with riding in the mountains to fully enjoy. If you are not contact me and I will be happy to discuss with the route with you. This is a trip you will want to bring your personal bike on.
