Rock Climbing in Vicenza
Costalungo Vicenza Climbing Area
Costalungo was developed about 10 years ago and it is a great surprise. I am not a great fan of climbing sites in old mining areas, but this area has a different vibe to it. The routes are good and as natural as can be after the cutting, which occured about 100 years ago. The site sits above the city of Bassno on the road leading up to Monte Grappa. The cliff faces to the south and this is a great place to climb on a sunny winter day. You can also enjoy on a late summer evening as well and then head down into Bassano for a glass of wine and snack.
The weather needs to be cool for the best contact otherwise the rock can feel a bit slick. The setting at the site itself is not the greatest but walking out onto the trail you have some wonder views of the Veneto Valley.
