Bike Path Report
Val Venosta Bike Path
Val Venosta offers you a great excursion in one of the Alto Adige's main valley.· The path runs from Malles Venosta to Merano and is 65 km long.· There is a train service to utilize to get up to the top of the valley which is the recommended start point for recreation riders.· For those wanting a great challenge this is the classic route up to Passo Stelvio climb.

The path starts at about 1200 meters elevation and you ride down the valley to just over 200 meters, there are a few short ramps to climb up and there are two sections of gravel but the route is very easy to ride.· If you are riding up from Merano the hardest section would be between the towns of Lagundo and Tell, but there is the Frost beer brewery to take a break at if you get to thirsty.

The route is marked with typical bike signs, you will need to leave the path to reach many of the towns and sights along the route.

Castelbello is one of the classic castels from the fedual times you will find along the route. There is a public rest room just below the castel and across the street is a small bar and water fountain.

Most of the route is along the river on up in the apple orchards.
A great side excursion is the climb up to Passo Stelvio, one of the hardest rides in Italy.
